Roe Ethridge brings Louise Parker exhibition to Gstaad

13.08.2024 Arts & Culture, Events, Arts & Culture

Throughout the summer, US-based artist Roe Ethridge is showcasing two exhibitions at Gagosian galleries, one in London and one here in Gstaad.

The exhibitions, named after his friend, the model and photographer Louise Parker, present different but connected works. Blending editorial, commercial advertising, and fine art photography, Ethridge's 30-year career is marked by his exploration of an array of subjects and nuanced documentation of lived experiences. This blend of the real and ideal is evident in Gstaad, featuring portraits, collages, and personal family moments.

Originally conceived by curator Alessandro Rabbotini for 10 Corso Como in Milan, the exhibition intertwines Ethridge's personal and commercial images of Parker, who he has worked with in different ways since 2010. The exhibition showcases styled modelling spreads and intimate, natural portraits, capturing both every day and staged moments. Also, in Gstaad, Ethridge’s family life is featured in images such as “Auggie with Raccoon Tail” (2015) and “Lee Lou at Sunset Park Ferry Terminal” (2021). These pieces reflect family life while emphasising light, colour, shape, and composition, elements Ethridge hopes to recreate with Parker and her family at the Gstaad Polo Gold Cup this summer.

Happy Birthday Louise Parker II is on view at Gagosian Gstaad until 8 September 2024.

Register online for an exhibition tour with the artist on 21 August.
