Music meets the soul on beautiful Eggli
29.09.2024 Events, Events, Bergbahn Destination Gstaad, Concerts, Grapevine Gossip, Behind the Scenes, Music, Gstaad LivingCaprices’ dance music scene brought an unforgettable experience last weekend in its second edition of the festival in Gstaad.
DAY ONE – Peace, Love and Vodka. It's a bit like in the seventies, I think. “Sorry ma’am”, these young festival-goers chuckle, “we weren’t around. No clue what you’re talking about”. And I wonder: should I even be here? I can see that this is an incredible line-up, but not sure how to move my old bones and feet to this music. The answer is in the vodka, some caring yellow and pink glasses wearers share with me. And then I know what to do, then I know what to do. All these people are soooo kind!
MORNING AFTER - Strolling in the Sun on the Promenade. I interview every bracelet-wearer I spot. All happy! So much to take in, magnificent views on the mountains. “Very friendly staff” many of the festival-goers remark. They feel safe. And so much space, even for non-VIPs.
DAY TWO - Perfect Vibing, really happy, grateful, hungover, sexy and fantastic, memorable, hilarious – enveloped in the music and the magic, people write on my phone how they feel. I have now been dancing for seven hours, in front of and behind the Eggli Stage, at the Yurt and even in the pink universe of the not-so-average bathroom where you can get the ‘soup of the day’. People look out for me. We’re family. I used to be sixty – I am not so sure now.
DAY THREE – United. I feel I belong here. Nobody has a real excuse not to be here. A bit of rain seeps in. Stylish people too, expressing themselves through their outfits and sunglasses, glitter make-up and face gems. In between espresso martinis, I have some delicious food. We are transported around the world on the indigenous earth sounds in the Yurt. On my way down, I bump into two cuties in orange safety clothing who got a job in the parking lot – too young to go up and dance, but part of it anyway.
UP TO THE THIRD EDITION
There’s always something going on, all year round’ some Gstaad enthusiasts tell me, “if you want to see it. We should get rid of this fake idea that Gstaad season is so short!”
Thanks for all this, Caprices team, who I saw work bloody hard. Thanks, all of you smiling festival-goers. And you, reader-not-so-much-dancer, I hope my words convey the vibe. Come and be part of the magic next year!
