Following the retirement of its longtime hosts Le Refuge l’Espace has closed its doors. This remote and iconic mountain restaurant now awaits a new caretaker to continue its legacy of hospitality in one of the Alps’ most breathtaking and extreme locations.

Perched at 2,860 meters on the edge of the Glacier 3000, “Le Refuge l’Espace” was a genuinely extraordinary location, far from civilisation and surrounded by breathtaking alpine views. After 13 years of dedication, Roland and Inge Beer, who ran this remote mountain refuge, have retired, leaving behind a legacy of magical moments and unparalleled hospitality.

Accessible only by a 45-minute hike, helicopter, or skis, this remote gem stood as a haven between the heavens and eternal ice – a place guests instantly fell in love with.

Despite the harsh conditions and logistical challenges, the Beers cherished every sunrise over the glacier and every opportunity to create unforgettable experiences.

Since their departure, “Le Refuge l’Espace” has closed, awaiting someone with a passion for hosting and the resilience to embrace this unique and demanding lifestyle, keeping the magic alive for future visitors.
