Changing Lanes - and finding new paths in Saanenland

As summer starts to unfold in Saanenland, this issue brings tales of transformation and new beginnings. In this month’s editorial, I am highlighting three extraordinary individuals who have switched paths, redefining their lives and careers in inspiring ways.

First, we meet Marlies Annen, a remarkable woman who balances life as a farmer with her passion for Ortho-Bionomy. For over two decades, Marlies has nurtured her farm, producing high-quality dairy products. Yet, her journey took an unexpected turn when she embraced Ortho-Bionomy – a gentle, non-invasive bodywork practice that promotes balance and self-healing. Marlies offers this unique therapy to both humans and animals, reflecting her deep connection with nature and her commitment to holistic well-being. Her story is a testament to how combining traditional practices with innovative healing techniques can lead to a fulfilling and impactful life.

Next, we turn our attention to Daniel Hope, the newly appointed Artistic Director of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy.

Succeeding Christoph Müller, who has shaped the festival for nearly 25 years, Daniel steps into a role laden with history and expectations. A celebrated violinist with a global reputation, Daniel’s vision is to blend the festival’s rich legacy with fresh, innovative perspectives. His transition from performer to artistic leader exemplifies how embracing new challenges can reinvigorate one’s career and continue a tradition of excellence.

Lastly, we must celebrate the achievements of Elena Lengwiler, a 27-year-old athlete whose journey epitomises the spirit of change. Originally starting out as a hockey player, Elena switched to kite sailing, a sport that has now earned her a place in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her relentless pursuit of excellence and her bold decision to change lanes underscore the rewards of venturing into the unknown.

These three stories remind me that change, though often daunting or unexpected, can lead to remarkable growth and success.

So, here’s to celebrating the spirit of change and the extraordinary possibilities it brings to our lives.

If only the weather would do the same and bring us some sun!
