Exhibition by Ueli Hertig and Kurt Hofmann at the Heimatwerk in Saanen

From 11 January to 15 March, the glass-ceilinged space of Heimatwerk Saanen will host a special sales exhibition showcasing the works of two fascinating artists: Ueli Hertig, best known for his paper cuts, and Kurt Hofmann, celebrated for his oil paintings.

The artists in focus
Ueli Hertig began his artistic journey as an apprentice painter in Spiez. His father introduced him to the art of traditional folk painting and restoration. However, his inspiration for paper cutting came from a journey abroad: while travelling in southern France, he experimented with scissors and paper, uncovering a new passion. His works reflect the meticulous craftsmanship of folk painting, captivating audiences with their intricate details and traditional motifs.

Kurt Hofmann, born in Wimmis, combines his love of nature with his artistic expression. A lifelong passion for hunting, particularly in alpine regions, has profoundly influenced his art. Hofmann honed his oil painting skills through self-study, attending courses, and delving into specialised literature. In addition to painting, he is also known as a yodeller and playwright. His paintings, often created on wooden panels, depict native wildlife and landscapes, standing out for their vivid realism and connection to nature.

A Harmony of Tradition and Nature
Saanen brings together two distinct yet complementary art forms. Hertig’s intricate paper cuts evoke traditional folk art, while Hofmann’s oil paintings breathe life into alpine flora and fauna. Together, the two artists create a unique experience for art and nature enthusiasts alike.
