The upper part of the building with the restaurant and the self-service restaurant was affected by the fire, which is why technical checks must be carried out on the building and the top station of the cable car. According to Bernhard Tschannen, Managing Director of Glacier 3000, initial findings indicate that mainly the third and fourth floors of the building are burnt down. It is not yet clear to what extent the technical installations of the cable car are affected, but the cable car seems to be functioning. 

According to the cantonal police, the cable car will remain closed for at least today. Firefighting operations are expected to continue for most of the day under the supervision of firefighters.

The public prosecutor's office has been informed and the public prosecutor on duty has opened a criminal investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. The investigation is being conducted by specialists from the fire brigade and the forensic brigade of the Vaudois security police, with the support of the Les Mosses gendarmerie.
