Debris flow in Abländschen
21.02.2022 Local NewsOn 29 December 2021, at around 9pm, a significant landslide occurred in the upper Chäle in Abländschen as a result of heavy rainfall.
Approximately 80m3 of debris from an area of about 15 by 30 metres came loose and slid down the slope towards the state road. The material stopped at the wire mesh fence on the opposite side of the road, where it piled up over a length of about 15 metres and up to two metres high.
As an immediate measure, the road was cleared with an excavator. Then a specialist came to make an initial assessment of the damage before a lot of snow fell again. An initial assessment for the repair of the damage is estimated at CHF 20,000.
An expert from the municipality and an insurance company were also on site. At the same time, a request was made to the building insurance company. The insurance companies stated that they would not pay for the time being because no building was involved, and the damage was exclusively to pasture and hay land. This means that the landowner must pay for the damage himself according to the initial clarifications.
The investigations have not yet been completed, though. Enquiries and clarifications are still open. Since the site of the damage is now covered in snow, further steps can only be taken at a later time.
