The BDG starts the ski season
04.12.2020 BusinessThe destination of Gstaad is ready for the coming season. This weekend the cable cars will start operating in the Saanenmöser area. The Saanersloch and Hornberg cableways will be operating in weekend mode from Saturday, 5 December. Other mountain railways in the destination are expected to start the snow sports season on 12 December. The Eggli-La Videmanette area, including the new Eggli mountain restaurant, will open on 19 December.
The lifts open at weekends and in the high season already at 8 am for owners of pre-booked tickets and season passes. The new regulations serve to increase the safety standards in the ski area.
Information on Covid-19 winter
"Although we face major challenges, the destination of Gstaad is doing everything it can to ensure that guests feel at home in the region," writes the BDG in a press release. The protective measures stipulated by the federal government are strictly adhered to. Furthermore, the destination is introducing additional measures in addition to the national and cantonal regulations and the GastroSuisse protection concept for the gastronomy sector.
Longer cable car opening hours, a user guidance system with limited day tickets and a new online reservation system for mountain restaurants will ensure even more space and safety throughout the ski area. Certified mouth and nose protection masks are available at the valley stations at a price of CHF 9.90.
Tables in the mountain restaurants must now be reserved online to avoid queues, crowds and unnecessary waiting times. Reservations can be made from 8am of each morning via the Mindful App.
It is of great concern to everyone that guests can enjoy a carefree winter experience, even in the current climate. "We appeal to all our guests to help ensure that skiing pleasure in the destination of Gstaad remains possible throughout the winter season by adhering to the rules", says Matthias In-Albon, CEO Bergbahnen Destination Gstaad.
