Numerous Alpine pastures from all over the Bernese Oberland presented the jury with 139 cheeses. The categories "Bernese Alpine Cheese AOP", "Berner Planelkäse AOP" and "Mutschli" were judged. As a sign of a generally very high quality of cheese, the 18-member jury under the expert guidance of Hanspeter Graf found minimal variations.

With his Bernese Alpkäse AOP produced on Alp Mittenbach, Saanen resident Gery Ryter won the sensational third place. Say and write five alpine regions from the Saanenland could be placed here among the top ten. The winner in this category was the Wäfler family from Frutigen, who produced their cheese on Alp Hahnenmoos. Racking up additional honours, Gery Ryter also won fourth place for his Berner Planelkäse AOP.
